There are so many free blogging platforms these days. I tend to use blogger the most but also use some of the others as feeder sites
As long as you don't make any of the free blogging platforms your main money pages you should be fine
Oh I almost forgot there is
Blogger
Wordpress
Livejournal
Friendster has a blog
Weebly

Whether you should go with Blogger.com or WordPress.com depends on your purpose with your blog.

If you doing it to make money with AdSense or affiliate links, choose Blogger. These things are not allowed on WordPress.com

I'll recommend livejournal - big, popular. Or as others already said blogspot, blogger.

?? I've been using Wordpress for a while and use lots of affiliate links and Adsense! I've never heard that these are not allowed - and it's definitely not true.

I love Wordpress - it's easy to use and you can choose different themes. I know that blogger is good too though.

It's not very polite to accuse somebody of telling something "definitely not true", just because you've "never heard that".

According to WordPress.com themselves:

"http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/" - First phrase: "Adsense, Yahoo, Chitika, TextLinkAds and other ads are not permitted on WordPress.com blogs*."

Beginner's Guide

Fri Apr 26, 2013 6:39 am

A blog is a regularly (sometimes constantly) updated website consisting of blog posts that are typically shown in reverse-chronological order, so the newest entry is the first one you see.
Sometimes blogs are embedded in bigger websites.
Other times the blog is the whole site.
