1and1 is the worst

Hey, do you like leasing servers that are not configured properly? Do you like waiting on hold for hours listening to horrible piped in music only to get through to some call center in the Philippines where the person on the other end barely knows English, let alone server administration? Then after the pseudo tech tells you to send an email to tech support, which goes unanswered for days, do you like phoning back the Philippino hot line to have them tell you they escalated your support request to "priority" only to wait another two days with no response?

Then you'll love 1and1

Sorry just had to rant.

mmm over here in germany they are marketleader, and their support is superb - strange that they are doing so bad in the us

I agree with everything you said brendanr. I had 1&1 for exactly 2 weeks because of their lousy customer service. Even going to supervisors did no good. I sure wouldn't reccommend them to anyone.

1and1 is awful! I use them for my community service site, and their webmail is so painfully slow. I usually log into the webmail server, then after typing in my password I'll go make some fettucine alfredo, take the dog for a walk, and when I get back, PRESTO! My emails are finally visible. :!:

Well I opened an account there two weeks ago - so far I do not have any problems. But maybe only because there was no support request involved yet ... :lol:

support was terrible when I had a free hosting package.

upgraded to their developer package at 1/2 price for 3 years,and now get 1st class service.

Had a problem with their chat setup program sticking the wrong domain name in chat links. [ I own several sites ] Phoned customer service. Was given quick fix. [ manually replace domain name in link ] They offered to stay on the line while I made changes to site code,FTP'd code to my server,and tested same.

Seemed upset when I said that's o.k.,I'll call back if there's a problem.
was asked Are you sure?
started laughing,and had to assure techie that i would be o.k.

Yes I totally agree!

1&1 is bad, really bad! ... It was my ISP last year ...they had some much problems and almost no good customer support!

Erg...

I have them, and HATE it.

Using Website Builder, and they will not allow you to insert your own HTML without upgrading your package...

Its horrible.

Yeah, they almost caused me to loose a domain name once yet I still buy domain names through them. The US tech support (Philippines) is a bit rough around the edges but the reason why they continue to succeed is that the do offer great products (minus support) at fantastic prices. That business model works for me but not for everyone.
